Norway is changed. The Danes have left. I feel it in the water, I feel it in the earth, I smell it in the air. Much that once was is gone.
It began with the creation of a new language and it was made by three of the greatest men of all time: Knudsen, Ibsen and Bjørnson. They made a dictionary called riksmål, and by doing that, they created hope and unity in all Norwegians.
But they were all of them deceived, for another language was made.
In the land of Møre in an office, the dark lord Aasen invented in secret a master language called nynorsk to control all others, and into his dictionary he poured his cruelty, his malice and his will to dominate all life. One language to rule them all.
One by one, the now free nation Norway fell into the power of the nynorsk.
But there was some who resisted.
An alliance of men created a riksmålsforbund to fight the expanding of the new language. And in meeting after meeting they argued. Victory was near, but the power of the nynorsk could not be undone.
It was at this moment, when all hope had faded that Ibsen raised his pen, and stabbed Aasen to death with it. Aasen the enemy of the free people of Norway was defeated.
The dictionary passed to Ibsen, who had the chance to destroy evil forever. But the hearts of men are easily corrupted, and the language of power has a will of its own.
It betrayed Ibsen to his death.
History became legend, legend became myth. And for a couple of years the dictionary passed out of all knowledge. Until when chance came it ensnared a new carrier. The dictionary came to the creature Kalvø, who took it deep into the fjords of Møre. And there it consumed him.
Darkness crept back into the forests of the world. Rumor grew about of a shadow in the west. And the language of power perceived. Its time had now come, and it abandoned Kalvø.
But something happened that the dictionary did not intend. It was picked up by the most unlikely creatures imaginable. A siddis. Per Inge Torkelsen from Stavanger.
For the time will soon come when siddiser will shape the fortunes of all.
I'm very provoked. As always.
